USS New Hampshire (BB-25) in Portsmouth
According to the Daily Log Book of the U.S. Navy Yard at Portsmouth, the battleship USS New Hampshire made a port visit to the Yard twice in 1909. She arrived on May 11 after taking part in celebrations marking the 300th anniversary of the founding of Quebec and departed on July 6; then returned on October 2, 1909 and sailed on December 16. (She also visited Portsmouth in July 1910.)
During one of her visits to her namesake state, New Hampshire received this heavily ornamented silver punch bowl as a gift from the citizens of New Hampshire. The bowl is now owned by the New Hampshire Historical Society in Concord, NH.
