MEDIA ADVISORY

The USS New Hampshire Community Commissioning Committee has just received word that the USS NH will arrive in Portsmouth on SUNDAY Oct 19 at 11:15 am. This is a change from previous expectation that she would arrive on Tues.

Those who want to greet the USS New Hampshire as she sails into Portsmouth Harbor to prepare for her official Commissioning on October 25th can participate in the Welcoming Boat Parade on SUNDAY October 19th. Tickets start at $40 per person and are available through www.portsmouthchamber.org or 603-436-3988. Board the MV Thomas Leighton or The Heritage at 9:30 am to cruise out to meet the submarine.  Those who already purchased tickets should be advised that the date has changed and their tickets are now good for SUNDAY. (There will not be a parade/cruise on Tues.)

The USS New Hampshire is the Navy's newest Virginia-class submarine. A next-generation fast attack vessel, she is the fourth to be named "New Hampshire" in the Navy's history thanks to a letter-writing campaign by third-graders at the Dover Garrison Elementary School. There has not been a "USS New Hampshire" in the Navy fleet since 1923. For more information about the USS New Hampshire Community Commissioning celebration, visit www.ussnewhampshire.org
